Some mistakes cost points. Others end the test immediately. Know the automatic fails so you can practice the opposite habits until they stick.
1. Rolling stops
The wheels must fully stop behind the line. Count a pause, then go. If you are unsure whether you stopped, you probably did not.
2. Hitting a curb or cone
Contact during parking or maneuvers is an immediate problem. Slow down early and use your reference points instead of rushing the finish.
3. Dangerous lane changes
Changing lanes without mirrors, signal, and a shoulder check can end a test. Build the sequence into muscle memory on every practice drive.
4. Disobeying signs or signals
Missing a stop sign, running a light, or ignoring a one-way is not a “oops”—it is a fail. Scan earlier so decisions happen with time to spare.
5. Examiner intervention
If the examiner has to grab the wheel or brake to prevent a collision, the test is over. Leave space, manage speed, and ask for a moment if you feel flooded—better a pause than a panic move.
Practice these five avoidance habits until they feel automatic. That is how test day stays ordinary.
